“I got a dollar, I got a dollar, hey, hey, hey, hey….” He was born in the Wisconsin Dells and his family moved to California when he was young. He was first cast as Buckwheat in the 1994 film adaption of The Little Rascals. His career continued with a voiceover role as the puppy in Babe in 1995. He later was cast as Nicky Banks in The Fresh Prince of Belair. His character’s four middle names (Nicholas Andrew Michael Shawn Nathan Wanya Banks) are the names of the Boyz II Men members who performed at his christening on the show. He was the only main character who didn’t appear in the first episode as he wasn’t born until Season 3.
He teamed up with Will Smith again as his stepson, Dylan Dubrow, in the film Independence Day. He appeared on one episode of The Profiler later the same year as the role of Donny. He then took a three-year hiatus before reappearing in a cameo on the NBC series, Providence, in 1999. Another voice acting gig was in an episode of The Wild Thornberrys the same year. He then disappeared until 2005 when he returned for one episode of the television series Judging Amy. From there, he took a break from acting.
He graduated from high school in 2005 and enrolled at California State University-Northridge where he planed to study cinematic and television arts where he graduated in 2012. Since then, he has only had one film appearance on a horror film, Gnome Alone, in 2015. He played the character Landon. He also didn’t reprise his character in Independence Day: Resurgence in 2016. He says that he wanted to focus his time on producing and raising his first child.
When asked about his early stardom on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Bagley can’t deny he was lucky. “It was a huge blessing,” he said. “Fresh Prince was, and still is, one of my favorite shows as a child, even way before I was on it. I remember when it used to come on Monday nights and I would watch it with my babysitter when I was a little tyke so, to be on it was surreal, to say the least.”
He reunited with some of his Little Rascals cast in 2014 for the 20th anniversary of the film. Some people say that his role as Buckwheat may have prevented his career from growing, but he disagreed. “I feel like it’s nothing more than a help,” Bagley said. “I was grateful to be a part of it.”
Personal Life
He has been nominated or won many awards including the Young Artist Award for Best Performance by an Actor Under Ten in a TV series for The Fresh Prince of Bel Air in 2005 and 2006.
He did an internship at Will and Jada Smith’s film production company known as Overbrook Entertainment.
His future plans include joining another comedy ensemble and to continue learning about producing. “That is always a lot of fun,” he said. “And the environment on set is way more laid back and lighthearted, which always makes me feel extremely comfortable.” He has enjoyed learning more about acting on the other side of the camera and hopes to continue to perfect his art. He isn’t opposed to acting again, but has been focusing on other ventures since his last film role.
While he still is searching for his next role, he can’t help but dream of his past success with some of Hollywood’s best, Vivica A. Fox, Will Smith, Sally Field and more.
He has two younger sisters, Danielle and Tiffany. All three of them live in Los Angeles.
He currently is a realtor in the Los Angeles and djs too. He has one son.
