Born to Hollywood Royalty

Amaya Josephine Hermann may only be eight-years-old, but she certainly is sitting pretty! Amaya was adopted by actress Mariska Hargitay and actor Peter Hermann in 2011. Since then, the joyful young child has been photographed only sporadically with her new family, as Hargitay has made it clear that she wants to keep her young daughter out of the public spotlight. While Mariska Hargitay may be the breadwinner of the family, Peter Hermann is certainly no slouch. Amaya's father has been acting since the early '90s thanks to his work on the television series, Guiding Light (1997). Since then, Hermann has become a regular on several major television productions including Blue Bloods (2012) and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2002). There are even episodes where Hargitay and Hermann share scenes together. How about that for something to look back on in the future for Amaya!

Even though Amaya isn't exactly filling her bank account at the moment, that doesn't mean her parents haven't been busy. Recently, Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann were in the news after they sold their townhome in New York City for a stunning $10.75 million The home sold toward the end of 2018 and it featured six floors, six bathrooms, five bedrooms, and three 'powder' rooms. The 7,000 sq/ft home also featured its own elevator, a rooftop lounge, and a private laundry room. Can you imagine raising a family of youngsters in a six-story home that is over 7,000 sq/ft? Early Life History

Amaya Josephine Hermann was born sometime in April of 2011. Her birth parents have never been named due to the fact that she was immediately adopted by Mariska Hargitay and actor Peter Hermann. Still just eight-years-old, there isn't a whole heck of a lot to say about Amaya Josephine Hermann and the life that she is living.

For Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann, they knew that they wanted to adopt a daughter to grow their family. Hermann and Hargitay decided in 2010 before undergoing the adoption process with their lawyer. Hargitay knew that she might have trouble bearing additional children due to her age but she knew she wanted to bring a daughter home. According to Hargitay's eldest son, the adoption was entirely his idea. Well, probably not, but his spirit was definitely behind the decision. Hargitay said, "He said, 'I want a baby sister."

According to Hargitay, the decision to pursue adoption was not an easy one. Hargitay and Hermann both knew that the process could be both good and bad, describing the process as "not for the faint of heart". Still, Hargitay and Hermann would eventually meet Amaya's birth mother before coming to a mutual loving decision between all parties involved.
